Department Functions/Responsibilities:
The City Administrator assists the mayor in overseeing the day-to-day business of the City.

Rex Reynolds was appointed to the position of City Administrator by Mayor Tommy Battle. Reynolds’ previous appointments include the position of Director of the Department of Public Safety and Chief of Police. Reynolds is proud to have served 28 years with the Huntsville Police Department. He began employment in 1980 as a patrol officer and moved through the ranks filling various specialized assignments until his appointment as Chief of Police in November 2004. He is married to the former Mary Ellen Fennell and has two sons, Matt, married to the former Rachel Weaver, and Brett.
