Huntsville, Ala. --- The city of Huntsville's Operation Green Team was presented $10,000 at the national Keep America Beautiful Conference held in Washington, D.C. The cash was the prize for two top national awards the E-cycling Campaign held during KAB's Great American Cleanup.
"With these awards, Huntsville has again shown itself to be the star of Alabama," Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle said. "Huntsville collected more cell phones for this program than any other city in the nation. With the support of our business community, individuals and our major partner, TEAM Redstone, Operation Green Team was able to collect over 2,400 cell phones."

Huntsville Students win top awards in State Arbor Day Poster Art Contest
Winners will visit Governor Riley at the State Capitol and plant a tree on the grounds
Huntsville, AL --- With balloons, cash, news of a pizza party, and a "round-trip ticket" to the State Capitol, Mayor Loretta Spencer and Joy McKee, director of Operation Green Team surprised two local elementary students at school on Thursday, February 15. The students were winners in the State Arbor Day Poster Art Contest, "Trees are terrific and forests are too!"
Parker Mahan, a fifth grade student at Chapman Elementary, took top honors in the city and state contests. Kaitelen Campbell, a
fifth grade student at Ridgecrest Elementary, placed third in the state contest. [Full Story]
