This study identifies the major land use
classifications for the City of Huntsville as of 2004 and gives a statistical break down on
the number of acres and percentages of each land use type. It then compares the
results to a land use survey completed by the City of Huntsville in 1988. This
comparison highlights trends of land use over a 16 year period. Finally, it analyzes
the recent classifications interjecting the impact of political boundaries and legislatively
