URBAN WILDLIFE

Encounters with wildlife can be a wonderful experience. When wild animals make their homes in your home, however, they can wreak havoc on your property or ruin your garden; quickly becoming unwanted. Wild animals are adjusting to changes in their habitats and trying to survive in a world that is no longer their own. Much can be accomplished by teaching the wild animals who enter your yard what is acceptable and what is not. Doing so can create a peaceful co-existence in which both human and animal can survive and thrive.

Feeding Wildlife

These four species of wildlife are the most likely carriers of Rabies virus in America.  Dogs and cats are rare carriers of this virus because of the excellent vaccination program of domestic pets in our country.  In the United States we are the world’s success story with Rabies control.  We have 3 – 5 people each year contract and die of Rabies and 95% of these tragedies are caused by bat bites.  In some countries of the world, especially Africa,  people die from Rabies every 10 minutes.  are the most likely to carry the Rabies virus.
