Director - Karen Hill Shepard, D.V.M. Karen pursued a career in veterinary medicine because of her passion for animals. Until accepting the position as Director of Huntsville Animal Services in the fall of 2002, Karen practiced small animal medicine and surgery. She joined the City of Huntsville Animal Service’s team in the fall of 2002. Growing, progressing and evolving are the goals of the department. Pet overpopulation and irresponsible pet owners continue to cause the department’s jobs to be much harder, especially the emotional component. Karen’s current children are Thistle, a 11 year old Standard Poodle and a pride of housecat, Lotus, Daisy, Kudzu, and Walrus and a small herd of horses. Please help us by being a responsible pet owner and encouraging your friends and neighbors to do the same. Together we can make a difference in Madison County.
